Staines is very well-connected being based on the River Thames in Surrey, 17 miles south-west of London and cornered by the M3 and M25 with Heathrow airport in its 3 mile radius. Trains to London Waterloo take around 35 minutes and run very regularly which make it a perfect spot for commuters.
Although near motorways and home to large company headquarters due to its proximity to Heathrow, the town itself does not feel at all urban. With the tranquility of the Thames and the historic Runnymede, Egham, Chertsey and Laleham nearby, Staines offers a rural setting and is a great location for young families. The town is compact with one main high street and has a weekly market and even a Waitrose! There is not much of a party scene for young professionals however so if a buzzing nightlife is what you are after you are advised to head the short distance to the big city for the bright lights.
There is some lovely Georgian housing available in the centre around St Mary's Church and Clarence and Church streets. Most properties even have garden plots! The more expensive houses are on the river in the areas of Chertsey Lane, Egham Hythe, and Penton Hook Marina.
