Stockton-on-Tees is a town in the north-east of England split between County Durham and North Yorkshire. The A66 connects Stockton directly to buzzy Middlesborough and the accessible A19 takes traffic North and South. Stockton does have a train station but main train lines only operate from nearby Thornaby. Durham Tees Valley Airport is a mere 7 miles away.
Stockton is an old market town and although it is now quite industrialised with its retail largely concentrated within two shopping centres, it does boast a clean riverside setting which offers an array of watersports.
The town is situated near the North Yorkshire moors as well as Durham's dramatic countryside. It is also not too far from an unspoilt coastline so it is an area which sits nicely between an industrial and rural setting. There is a range of housing on offer with areas such as Norton being very popular.
