Stevenage is a town in Hertfordshire about 30 miles north of London with a population of 80 000. It is situated close to the A1 motorway which takes traffic both North and South. It has a train station with regular trains to London Kings Cross in under 30 minutes and Luton Airport in 25 minutes.
The town is well known for being the first ever 'new town', one of a series of new towns built near London after World War II. Although quite an urban looking town with a number of traffic lights and roundabouts, Stevenage has a pedestrianised town centre as well as 45 miles of completely segregated cycle tracks so is very cycle friendly! It also offers open green spaces and 3 golf courses.
House prices are very affordable with plenty of 3 bedroomed semi-detached houses mostly located in the north of town which contains the new developments. Chells and Bedwell are nice areas to live and Hitchin and Biggleswade appeal to those who want to live out of the town centre.
