Located in southern Hertfordshire around 22 miles north of central London, St Albans has a population of 138, 800 and is apparently the most expensive city to live in the UK outside London. The historic yet cosmopolitan city offers a luxury lifestyle and is a desirable place in which to live as it is a key commuter town for people working in the capital. It is centrally located on the edge of the M1, A1 and M25 motorways that connect the city with the rest of the region and also has fast and slow commuter trains direct to London.
St Albans has a strong local economy boasting a highly skilled workforce. With such a high calibre of residents comes the benefits of speciality boutiques, shops, and restaurants with a twice-weekly market added to the mix. Recommended districts are the conservation areas of Bernards Heath and Old London Road.
There are a range of properties on offer in this affluent area including traditional Victorian terraced housing, modern family houses, flats in converted properties and brand new purpose built apartments but these are not for those with a tight budget!
