Southport is a seaside town that has stood the test of time and is now an established cosmopolitan. Offering excellent transport links into Liverpool and Manchester, a wonderful relaxing coastal location and magnificent golf courses. Whilst not quite able to compete with the rivalling nightlife of nearby Liverpool, there's definitely plenty going on with lots of quality restaurants and pubs.
Southport is a friendly, smart town which has managed to keep the atmosphere of a traditional British seaside town. For many, the prospect of becoming a Sandgrounder (yes, that's what residents of Southport are called) is a nice one - especially if the man of the house is keen to work on his handicap!
There is a variety of housing, and prices vary depending on the area. Many ex-footballers live in Southport and obviously favour the larger houses in more affluent areas such as Birkdale (convenient for the golf course!), North Churchtown and in the leafy areas around Scarisbrick New Road. You'll find that properties in the centre of town are reasonably valued.
