South Ayrshire has some of the best sporting facilities in the world hosting the world famous Golf Open Championship and the Scottish Grand National at Ayr Racecourse. It has a population of just over 110,000 with hundreds of flats but not so many houses for sale on the property market. It is a quite scenic and beautiful area and this is reflected by rental prices for houses of between £1,500 - £3,000 pcm at the high end of the market, and less than a £1,000 for good value 3 bedroom cottages. The higher prices are justified by those renting short term accommodation for sports events or tourists visiting this coastal resort and its sandy beaches, the larger rents of some of the properties are made affordable by multiple visitors sharing the rental costs. Some properties nearer to the town centre and further away from the sports centres are actually cheaper with 3 bedroom flats and semi detached properties available in Troon for rent at £600 - 650 pcm. Many tourists simply use their accommodation as a base while cycling or trekking through the Carrick Forest and the nearby villages and scenic areas.
