Powys property profile is best characterised by the large number of detached homes and bungalows for sale, with semi detached houses being the next largest group of properties available followed by terraced houses. There are only a small number of flats available to buy with there being as many brand new homes available as flats. The large number of bungalows also does not mean that there are many retirement properties as there are comparatively few. The rental market in the area is best described as scarce with only detached houses having any real numbers of properties available for rent.
With a population of 132,000 Powys was once voted the happiest place to live in the UK. Powys is perhaps most famous for its remains of Norman castles and Powys Castle itself which dates back to the 12th Century and is still lived in today. Powys is a very scenic and rural area with highlands and lowlands and some very famous residents such as Julie Christie. There are farm houses and classic listed buildings for sale in the area, with the main areas being Brecon and Welshpool where multi-bedroom properties can sell for as much as £2,000,000 at the top end of the market. It is important to note that broadband and internet access is not easy to achieve in Powys but this does not seem to affect the residents who too much.
