Newry and Mourne, on the North East coast of Ireland, is an idyllic area with a substantial coastline. The countryside here is dramatic, and the Irish rainfall ensures green fields year round. The mountains of Mourne provide a beautiful area to live in, with the City of Newry creating a vibrant counterpoint to more rural living.
Around 100,000 people live in the area, split between several small towns, fishing villages and coastal settlements. Between these places it's possible to find almost any form of housing, with buying more common than renting.
Prices range vastly, with countryside detached homes on the higher side of normal, while terraced properties in the town centre can be much lower than expected. The amount of land sold with the property is a big factor in housing prices, with lots of smallholding and farm style properties coming onto the market at high prices. In the smaller fishing villages the homes with sea views can cost a lot more than those just a few streets away. It's a very varied area, despite it's small size, and it's worth looking around to find the right property.
