The county of Monmouthshire occupies the Southeastern corner of Wales, including the town of Abergavenny among others. It's something of an idyllic area, incorporating parts of the Breacon Beacons, Black Mountains, Brecon Canal, and several historic castles and houses.
The area offers an exceptional quality of life, with beautiful outdoor spaces, independent vineyards and boutique shopping. The village of Grosmont was recently voted one of the best villages to live in the UK. Of course this has been reflected in the price, and Grosmont has become a very sought after location.
Recent positive publicity, and some celebrity inhabitants, has caused high prices in the area, with some areas seeing increases of 25% over a four year period. Country homes here can reach high prices, and rental prices can be impressive.
However areas of Abergavenny and Caldicot still have some cheaper areas where bargains can be found. Terraced properties in Abergavenny particularly can be found for quite low prices in a small town atmosphere, while still enjoying all the benefits of a home near the countryside.
