Despite a population of just 11,000 Magherafelt is the biggest town in the area, and serves as the hub of County Londonderry for social, political and economic activity.
Although it's small in size, the town has several of its own schools, a college, and a number of sporting teams. There's a large population of families, and nearly a quarter of the population are under 16.
Most of the properties here are for sale rather than rent, but it's possible to find great deals on what rentals there are. A mix of new developments and older properties give great options, with plenty of terraced and detached properties on the market, as well as a limited number of newer flats.
Crime rates are among the lowest in Ireland, and the area has a great community feel. This is a great place to look for a family home, and has great links to Londonderry and Belfast as well as plenty to keep you occupied in Magherafelt itself.
