Halifax is a diverse town situated within the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale in West Yorkshire. It has a direct rail link to London, Manchester and Leeds and an extensive bus network linking the town to Dewsbury and Wakefield, Huddersfield, Bradford and Leeds making it an excellent place to commute into the wider area of West Yorkshire.
Within the area are 2 selective state schools both with excellent GCSE and A-level results and in 2005 Crossley Heath School was deemed the highest-ranking co-educational school in the north of England.
There are extensive military links within the town due to its being the home of the 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
