Great Yarmouth is a coastal town in Norfolk, situated right on the North Sea, well known for its fishing industry and oil rigs.
It has a direct road and rail link to the main Norfolk town of Norwich, but residents would be more likely to be based in Great Yarmouth for the fishing or tourism trade, rather than commuting into Norwich.
The beach front generally consists of flats and narrow terraced housing, suitable for holiday and retirement homes as the seaside location is very picturesque, local amenities are within easy reach and properties are really rather cheap and well within a retirement or second home budget.
As you go further inland, properties either become terraced or semi-detached, but you are unlikely to break £150,000, even for a four-bedroom family home. Should you need entertainment or high street shops, Norwich is under half an hour away, so it is not as removed from major towns as one might think.
Great Yarmouth is a pretty idyllic place to spend a retirement or life on the sea, but might not be so attractive to families, especially with teenagers due to the lack of youth entertainment.
