Around 20% of homes in the UK are flats and around half of these are two bedroom flats. They are ideal for those who wish for the flexibility of an extra room to use as storage, to rent or to start a family.
Often those people that live by themselves in a one bedroom flat for any period of time start yearning for that upgrade in space. A flat with an extra bedroom is more affordable than a house and the third bedroom is often completely unnecessary for those without or not planning to have children.
A flat is also more affordable and often the only option compared to a house. Two bedroom houses do exist but there are not many of them in central London or other major cities. The downside of a flat is that they are often leasehold and a service charge and ground rent is often out of ones hands and can seem expensive to those who have purchased a flat.
