The county of Flintshire is tucked in the north-east corner of Wales, only a few miles away from the border with England and a few miles further away from Liverpool.
The county's main town is, unsurprisingly, Flint, with a population of over 12,000. The towns inside the county's borders are generally small and spaced out, meaning plenty of generously sized properties on the market.
Its main industry is manufacturing, from car engines to aeroplane wings. It is also commonly used as a base for big name websites, so there are a range of jobs available for residents.
Many of the properties for sale on the west side of the county are retirement and shared ownership homes as north Wales does tend to be a haven for people enjoying their retirement.
However, the north and east of the county are full of properties for between £100,000 and £150,000 which are two to three bedrooms, terraced or semi detached and great value. Being only 25 miles from Liverpool, it is conveniently located for any big shopping or entertainment expeditions should they be required, but residents are able to deal with the small shops that populate the individual towns.
