East Kilbride is a suburb of Glasgow, less than ten miles south of Scotland's most populated city.
This 'new town' was designed to meet the needs of people wishing to work but not live in Glasgow and was designated as such in the late forties.
The town has been divided into a number of major estate-like precincts, designed in a circle around the central shopping centre in the middle of the town.
The town was designed to be easily liveable whilst also providing access to Glasgow so would be an ideal place for families to live as each precinct has a number of local schools to choose from, it's minutes from Glasgow by both car and train and is also close to the M74 which takes you straight to the border.
Pretty much all the houses in the area are terraced houses as befits the preferred style of the time and the nature of the town which is designed to fit as any people in as possible.
Prices are generally below the £100,000 mark which is excellent value for a town which is so close to an important city. Families will get great benefit from East Kilbride as it can cater for all the family and, if it can't, Glasgow probably can.
