Dundee is a city on the east coast of Scotland with has a population of around 150,000. It is a vital part of Britain's digital entertainment industry and it is currently undergoing a major regeneration to make it more attractive to potential residents. It is also a major student city as it caters for two separate places of higher education.
Scotland's fourth largest city is probably only suitable for those who work in and around Dundee or those wishing to reduce their golf handicap at Carnoustie which is only around 10 miles away and last hosted The Open in 2007.
It is just over an hour from Edinburgh so not totally out of the way. Scotland's capital is accessible by road or train and from then on you are linked to the rest of the country so that is something to consider.
Having said that, there are plenty of things to occupy your time in Dundee itself. They have a number of professional sports teams, the Scottish National Orchestra are a fixture at Caird Hall and there are numerous art galleries and museums in the city.
House prices are extremely cheap and the majority of properties are terraced and two/three bedroom houses regularly go for under £100,000 so the commute to Edinburgh might not seem so bad and students could live very cheaply. And just to reiterate, the golf is incredible.
