Doncaster is a South Yorkshire city, possibly most famously known for its racecourse. With quick links to Sheffield and a new shopping centre, it is rapidly becoming an attractive place to buy property.
Prices, as with many towns in the north of the country, are very affordable. The industrial nature of the city means there are a lot of terraced houses in the area, but there are some upmarket areas where those with a little more money could be looking, such as Bessacarr. Again, with its industrial revolution heritage, there are some lovely old properties, so you are spoilt for choice somewhat.
It is about five minutes from the A1(M) and half an hour from the M1 and has a pretty major railway station, so residents are well linked to the rest of the country.
Doncaster would be an ideal place for commuter couples to buy an early-on-the-ladder house as it is mostly cheap, with two bedroom houses often under £100,000, has good links to the major cities in the north of the country and offers great shopping, nightlife and sport, with the famous racecourse, Doncaster Rovers and the rugby teams.
