Dewsbury is a small suburb in West Yorkshire with a population of a shade under 60,000. Ten miles south of Leeds, it is a popular location for commuters as it is within easy reach of the city by both road and car.
The area has recently had a series of facelifts and property-based changes, making it desirable for young families who don't want to live in the city. A number of former mills have been converted into affordable housing, making the town accessible for people looking to get onto the first or second rung of the property ladder.
It has excellent motorway links as well with the M1 and M62 only an A-road away so residents here are far from cut off. It only takes ten minutes to reach Leeds by train, so all the family can benefit from the cosmopolitan city.
It is a great place to begin your housing career as properties here are some of the cheapest in Britain, as there are some fairly poor areas. Now could be a superb time to buy though as the previously mentioned regeneration could mean an influx of people and a rising of house prices, so you may have to get in quick.
