Cheltenham is a large spa town in Gloucestershire on the edge of the Cotswolds in the South West of England. It is nationally famous for its annual horse-racing event, but with its leafy residential areas and good schools it is a popular choice for families in search of their first property.
The town has a strong historical feel to it, particularly in the centre, which makes property prices in the area set at a premium, however there are many more affordable family homes in Pittville to the North or Montpellier to the South. These residential areas are well established, and are close enough to the centre to retain their worth in the long-term. They are conveniently located in close proximity to schools and playing fields, as well as the town's shopping development. Smaller satellite villages such as Broomfield and Boreham also offer affordable properties which, although they lie a ten minute drive from the town-centre, have a far more rural surroundings whilst offering a similar amount of floor space.
Cheltenham is an incredibly popular choice for buyers owing to its family-orientated centre and pleasant historical aesthetic. Buying or renting in the area is a fairly wise choice.
