The Dorset coastal resort of Bournemouth has two stations and good rail links to the rest of southern England. London is around an hour and a half away by train and Bournemouth has its own airport. The resort's 7 miles of golden sand make the town a magnet for holidaymakers and day trippers. Bournemouth has a reputation as a retirement haven, but it also has a lively club scene. Around 168,000 people call Bournemouth home.
Property prices in Bournemouth tend to be on the high side. Flats and apartments are a feature of life in Bournemouth and there are a great many to choose from, especially in the town centre and near to the seafront. This does tend to put a premium on prices for Bournemouth's semi-detached and detached houses, though.
There are plenty of leafy residential districts in the town. Boscombe and Winton are two of the most exclusive areas, with their large, detached family homes and substantial semis.
You'll find more middle-of-the-range property in the neighbourhoods of Charminster, South Bourne, Spring Bourne and Westbourne. For property bargains, check out the neighbourhoods of Haskell Road or Arne Avenue.
