The Welsh towns of Blaenau Gwent are set among lush green valleys. The grandeur of the Brecon Beacons National Park is right on the doorstep. The area is served by the A465 Heads of the Valley Road and has good links to the M4 motorway and is handy for Cardiff International Airport. There is a regular rail service to Cardiff.
Around 70,000 people live in the Blaenau Gwent area, so there is a real sense of the wide open spaces.
The towns of Tredegar, Abertillery and Ebbw Vale offer plenty of sturdy Victorian terraced housing, with more modern semi-detached and some detached houses towards the edges of the towns. You may find flats and apartments thin on the ground in Blaenau Gwent.
In Ebbw Vale, you'll find large and more exclusive property in areas such as Clos Lon Fawr, Tyr Meddyg and Beech Grove, with property bargains more likely around Princes Court and Atlee Road. Tredegar's most sought-after houses are in areas such as Cwrt Llechryd and Arches Close, while the lowest-priced houses can be found in places like Waundeg and Greensway. Abertillery has very few detached houses to offer, but plenty of terraces. Expensive parts of town include Cwntillery and Cwm Road, with the cheapest deals to be had in places like Division Street and East Side Row.
For more picturesque country property, try the smaller Brynmawr, which offers some striking views of the landscape from its elevated hillside position.
