Angus offers a variety of town houses and country houses, set among glens and pleasant Scottish farmland. Dundee lies within easy reach on the east coast and is Scotland's fourth largest city. The area is made up of many towns and villages. Arbroath is the largest town.
In the towns, you'll find plenty of solidly built Victorian houses, both large and small, as well as significant amounts of new-built housing. Out in the countryside, there are rugged small cottages, as well as more substantial detached homes, standing in their own grounds. The priciest area with the most imposing Victorian houses is around Broughty Ferry, which has a reputation as a millionaires' haunt.
Forfar and Montrose offer more modest, reasonably priced, family homes and a market-town ambience. You'll find a mix of Victorian and more modern developments. The city of Dundee has two universities, making it an ideal location for those interested in purchasing property for the buy-to-let market. Angus offers a diverse range of housing types, including small studio flats and larger apartments, with the widest choice in Dundee itself. Properties in Angus consistently sell at around 15 per cent below national average prices, although the towns closest to Dundee, Carnoustie and Monifieth, tend to be pricier places to buy.
