High Wycombe is a large market town lying 29 miles from London in Buckinghamshire with a long industrial heritage in furniture making. Although Buckinghamshire is an affluent county Wycombe has some deprived areas but is benefiting from the redevelopment of the town centre. This improvement has resulted in a new shopping centre and hotel, as well as the Buckinghamshire New University and some essential housing development.
The M40 is nearby, along with the M25 and M4 offering good transport links countrywide although the A404 is still subject to some congestion despite recent improvement. The town is served very well with buses and has a major new central bus station outside the Eden Shopping Centre. High Wycombe railway station is the only rail link in the town offering services to London Marylebone and Birmingham Snow Hill as well as to Aylesbury. London can be reached in 30 minutes on the fast services and the station is the busiest in South Buckinghamshire.

Amersham Hill is known for its large period properties and green tree lined streets; however, some areas do have a bad reputation, with the Castlefield area having once been deemed the most deprived estate in the country.
