Omagh in Northern Ireland is a relatively large town with a population of under 20,000. The town has faced many problems, with a recent bomb attack in 2011 bringing the town to wider public attention, but it is an attractive place to live boasting a wealth of parks and green spaces alongside an impressive shopping centre.
Housing prices are relatively low, but there's quite a slow trickle of new properties coming onto the market, so it may take a while to find what you're looking for. Rentals are less common and disproportionately expensive given the area. Prices are steadily rising, and have done so over the last few years; both rental and purchase prices are higher than the national average.
Industrial properties often sit alongside residential and much of the area is not traditionally attractive, but there are some good sized family homes in the area, particularly within the newer developments. The surrounding countryside is stunning and it's close enough to get to the coast at the weekend, making it an appealing area for some people.
