Hartlepool was previously a heavily industrialised town situated in north east England in County Durham. Major investment in the 1990s brought new life to the town centre and a marina forged from the original dock area. At the same time the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre was modernised and the Historic Quay regenerated to supply new housing.
Hartlepool has five secondary schools and good local amenities including a cinema, a bingo hall and bowling alley. Employment levels are high with the nearby Hartlepool nuclear power station, an extensive chemical industry and a major brewery offering jobs locally. In addition, the offshore wind farm has attracted companies such as Siemens and Van Oord to the area.
Transport links are good, with easy access to the A19 and rail links from Hartlepool and Seaton Carew railway stations offering hourly services to Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough. From Sunderland there is a fast service to London calling at Hartlepool Station which takes three and a half hours. Bus services are also good and link the town to the local area.
