Lying mere miles from the mouth of the River Thames, Gillingham is a town of around 80,000 people in northern Kent in the south east of England.
One of the major cities in Kent, Gillingham is linked to London via the M2 and A2 and, when taking the former road west, will get you to Canterbury in a little over half an hour, so residents of Gillingham have culture and employment within easy reach both to the east and west.
It also has a fairly substantial student population, the town playing host to The Universities at Medway which is a collaboration of the University of Kent, Canturbury Christ Church University and University of Greenwich to provide further education in Gillingham.
