Torfaen is a county in Wales, a mere 20 minutes from Cardiff. The towns of Cwmbran and Pontypool both have train stations so the county is well-connected by rail. For air travel Cardiff Airport is nearby.
The population in Torfaen is roughly 91,000. The three towns are Cwmbran, Pontypool and Blaenavon and all are very different. Cwmbran is a new town situated in the historic boundaries of Torfaen and Monmouthshire. It has an undercover shopping centre, a local brewery, canals, and an array of theatres, shops, and restaurants to keep one busy. Pontypool has a beautiful park, a leisure centre, golf clubs, and a lot of historical landmarks to keep the historians entertained. Blaenavon is a World Heritage site high on a hillside. It is a great town for walking and cycling and is homes to lots of quirky shops, galleries, and some award winning cheese!
