Newcastle upon Tyne, more commonly known just as Newcastle, is a sizeable town in the North of England. The population stands at close to 300,000 and the surrounding area is made up of further small towns and suburbs. Culturally this is a city with a huge amount to offer. A wealth of museums, galleries and cultural events are supported by an emphasis on sport not least the Great Northern Run. Rivers running through the centre and various preserved old buildings give a distinctive feel to the City and make it easy for people to feel affectionate towards it.
It's possible to find really well priced properties around the Byker Wall district, and occasionally even with the Grade II listed Byker Wall itself.
The Heaton and Gosforth areas are popular with students, so prices here stay relatively low, the population is quite young, and the rental market is fast moving. Jesmond is a really lovely area to live, but prices here are higher for the more family orientated homes on sale. The trendy Quayside developments are great for young workers wanting to be in the heart of the city, though your money will buy you a little less square footage than you'd find in other places.
