Garden flats are apartments on the ground level of a building which have their own gardens. These types of flats are particularly popular in densely populated urban areas where space is scarce. Typically, new build houses will not include garden flats and these types of properties are most commonly seen in Victorian and Edwardian properties.
If you must have a garden, but you're on a budget in a big city, this is often a good way to go. Keep in mind that natural light can be patchy in these ground floor properties and remember you'll have someone living above you so make sure you haven't got not noisy neighbours before you buy!
