Dudley is the second largest town in the UK, located in the West Midlands about ten miles west of Birmingham.
Sedgely is the most affluent and desirable area of Dudley with a number of period houses and converted barns available for sale, but other areas of the town boast rows of terraced houses, typical of the area and reasonably cheap.
Dudley is a superb example of a commuter town, with fantastic links to Birmingham, England's second city. It is only 10 minutes away by train and under half an hour by car. It has excellent shopping facilities and for families, there is Dudley zoo which provides an entertaining day out and an entertainment complex on the outskirts.
Young families would suit this town as there is plenty to do and houses are generally very affordable, despite being so close to a major British city. The area might need a bit more work done on it before it becomes truly desirable but should you wish to access the Midlands on a budget, you could do a lot worse than Dudley.
